John Maybury brings to the table a 30 year career in media, performance and audience engagement.
It's a little known fact that as a teenager, John stuttered. He knew that if he didn't get over this challenge that his career goal of following the well-worn footsteps of his father and grandfather into broadcasting and entertainment would be in jeopardy.
To rid himself of the stutter he worked hard in therapy and theatre. It was all about confidence. He achieved his Trinity College and NZ Speech Board exams and enjoyed 9 years as a working actor.
He has film and television credits (even Shortland St and Home and Away), a number of television commercials including fronting the ASB Bank for 4 years which went on to win the supreme gong ar the TVNZ/Marketing Magazine Awards.
After graduating from NZ Radio School in Christchurch he plied his trade for 11 years at stations ZM, Hauraki, The Breeze, The Hits and Easy Mix along with newsreading at NZME. Writing copy, producing and announcing. His voice over work continues to this day.
After moving to Sydney he found himself behind a microphone at Foxtel, Channel 7, News Limited, Telstra, Coles and Woolworths. During this time he transitioned to an award-winning 13-year stint as an audience engagement (brand experience) marketing expert based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
