I recently organised and hosted an event called the BNI Big Breakfast where I asked John to be our feature speaker. The theme for the event was ‘Creating Connection Through Storytelling’. It was a business breakfast and the audience frequently spoke in front of one another to help grow their businesses. I asked John to help them craft a good weekly story, something that could be engaging and memorable, something they could take away with them and do it in John's style!
John nailed the brief!
He was engaging with the team and the audience on the day, having the audience hanging on his every word from beginning to end. He kept their attention, included the audience in his presentation and got them connected with each other. The feeling in the room was electric.
The following week, I attended 4 meetings where I heard over 20 audience members either mention John’s presentation specifically or use his tips and tricks that he imparted. The subtly of John’s advice elevated the quality of those presenters that used it and even encouraged one of the Presidents to do an entire 10-minute presentation on what she learnt from John. Amazing!
John was great at captivating the audience and having them hanging on his every word. His passion for his topic was unmatched and, clearly, it landed with the audience.
I would highly recommend John to anyone looking for a speaker on the topic of storytelling, but he’s also got a few amazing stories himself: HIV/AIDS, depression, radio and all that goes with them. Any business or professional function would benefit from hearing John present. I feel that we could book him again and get something totally different – of equal or higher value.
