From a young age, I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my father and grandfather and work in the world of broadcasting.
But when I was aged nine, I developed a stutter.
That debilitating loss of power when you open your mouth to speak. For seven years, I worked hard to rid myself of my stutter through speech, voice and acting classes.
Then, when I was 21, I got my first job as a radio announcer at ZM in Christchurch. I went to work for 10 years at stations like Newstalk ZB, Hauraki, The Breeze and The Hits in Auckland as an announcer, newsreader and commercial voice artist.
